A Software Product Line Potential Assessment is a quick way of determining whether your organisation could benefit by adopting Software Product Lines.

How it works

The assessment is a half-day workshop with participants from Software Acumen and the client organisation e.g. senior representatives of the client's software development and marketing groups.

The structure of the workshop is as follows:

• We begin by explaining Product Line Potential and the workshop format.
• You give a short presentations on your organisation and products.
• We lead a structured interview, based on the criteria for Product Line Potential.
• We present our conclusions.

Outcomes

At the end of the workshop we say whether the organisation could, could not or may benefit from Software Product Lines and we explain how this decision has been reached based on the information given.

If the client organisation could benefit, then we can provide tailored consultancy support in order to help the client plan and launch its Software Product Line. We also offer free evaluation of pure::variants, a tool for developing Software Product Lines.

If the answer is that the organisation may benefit, then follow-up activities can be arranged to explore the areas of uncertainty in more depth.
